At Mieletöntä valoa (Epic Light in english), we work on various media projects such as magazines, video productions, event streaming, radio, and podcasts. The activities are free of charge and aimed at young adults (18-35 years old) who experience different challenges, such as mental health issues. We provide the equipment, and you get to create in a safe and friendly environment. We follow the principles for a safer space.
Join the team of your choice!
At Mieletöntä valoa, participants decide what productions to work on. There are five weekly teams where media projects are planned and developed. Choose the team(s) that suit your interests!
In the Photo Team, we discuss our own photos and go on photography trips. You can also join remotely. Every Monday from 1-3 PM.
The Magazine Team is the group that makes the Valoa! magazine (published 3-4 times a year). You can also join remotely. On Tuesdays from 1-3 PM.
In the AV Morning Team, we plan and make videos, podcasts, streams, and radio broadcasts together. On Wednesdays from 10 AM-12 PM.
The Film Team is all about film work. We write scripts and plan our own short films. The team decides together what to work on. You can also join remotely. Every Wednesday from 1-3 PM.
Workshops offer hands-on practice in various media skills such as photography, videos, editing, online production, writing, animation, and more. Check the detailed (and updated) schedule here. Some workshops can also be attended remotely.
On some Thursday afternoons, we visit different media locations or invite media professionals to our place to talk about their work. Thursdays from 1-4 PM.
You can also join remotely
All teams offer a variety of tasks that can be done remotely. You can participate easily, even if you don’t live in the Helsinki area. No prior experience is required – just an internet connection and an interest in media production.

How to join:
New participants from all over Finland are welcome! Just fill out a short registration form, and we’ll get in touch with you. You can also drop by our office without an appointment.
We also welcome trainees, interns, and work trial participants, depending on the situation.
How to find us?
Sosped-olkkari is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, at the address Marjaniementie 74 (Iiris-keskus, near Itäkeskus shopping mall).
When in Iiris-keskus:
- Walk in through the main entrance and straight ahead, past the first elevators and the cafeteria (Ravintola Antell).
- After that you find next set of elevators on your left. Take elevator to the 2nd floor.
- On the 2nd floor, turn right and walk to the end of the hallway. You will find a door marked ”Sosped-olkkari” – you’ve arrived!
At the main entrance, there is a reception desk where you can also ask for directions.
